The Global 100 report was released by Acquisition International in 2016, and it ranks the world’s richest law firms based on their profits and revenue. These statistics cover the period from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015; in total, the 100 largest law firms earned over $8.8 billion in revenue and $1.9 billion in profit during this period – both increases of over 5% from the previous year.
1. Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP, US
Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP is the 2nd-largest law firm in New York City and the 7th-largest in the United States by several attorneys, with 470 attorneys and more than $480 million in gross revenue. A $500,000 endowment to Yale University established a chair named James Carter,
who had been married to Sarah Milburn. Carter and his wife then bequeathed funds to found a school which they named after their daughter as well. This school was run like a boarding school until 1961 when it became a day school that drew students from across Greater New York City.
