It’s likely that your choice of law school is largely influenced by what schools are in the top ten. But there are many other things to take into consideration: cost, part-time or full-time programs, and even what career opportunities you want post-graduation.

If you’re in college and thinking about law school, it might be worth looking at this ranking. UVA is ranked #1 with an average LSAT score of 170.7. That’s 3 points higher than last year’s average! Yale and Harvard are tied for 2nd place with a median score of 168, which has improved by over 5 points from last year’s median score of 163.

Why do schools list their scores on websites, but not their GPA scores?

Law schools list their LSAT scores because it is an objective way to measure a student’s potential success in law school. A high score on the LSAT can indicate that you are capable of succeeding in rigorous and demanding programs such as law school.

Additionally, there may be circumstances where a student has two very different GPAs but has received the same LSAT score.

However, it is important to note that some schools will only release one number or list their average GPA as opposed to listing GPAs for each grade point if they want students to assume they performed well in each course.

Every school is different

Different law schools have different strengths. For example, some may be better at clinical training or particular types of teaching. Others might offer a more welcoming or supportive environment. So while there are schools with higher test scores, they may be more expensive or not as interested in applicants. This is why it’s important to research each school before deciding where you want to go.

What about Undergraduate GPA scores

Depending on your law school of choice, an undergraduate GPA score could also be a determining factor in your chance of acceptance. For some schools, like Yale University and Harvard University, undergraduate GPA isn’t taken into consideration at all when considering applicants.

However, for other schools that are more selective in their admissions process such as Columbia University and Stanford University, a high undergraduate GPA is worth consideration for those aspiring lawyers who want to get into the best school possible.

What if you have been out of school for a while now and need to bring your grades up

No need to panic, there are still a few things you can do in order to raise your GPA. The first thing you need to do is get an idea of how many credits you need in order to bring your GPA up.

Try getting all A’s or at least be able to create a study plan that will allow you to make up any C’s or lower grades. In order for this plan to work, it’s best that you try and retake courses instead of taking extra courses in addition because it will be easier for you given the fact that, chances are, if it was difficult enough for you once before, then it’ll likely be just as difficult again.
